Ken Hammer Senior High Technical School was officially established in 1st November, 2010. The school was established Emmanuel Abugbila through his own Green Shepherd Ghana, a local Non- Governmental organization operation by then in four Regions of Ghana (BrongAhafo, Ashanti, Western and the Upper East Region of Ghana)..
Green Shepherd Ghana, led by its dynamic and visionary Executive Director, Emmanuel Abugbila, observed that there was the need to established a private Senior High school in its operational area, to support the disadvantaged youth and parents whose no fault of theirs could not get placement through the Ghana Education Placement System into second cycle schools after the Basic Education Certificate Examination (B.E.C.E), due to poor academic results .Majority of parents within the rural communities could not afford financially to send their wards to well-endowed schools. Again, Green Shepherd, accepted it as clarion call to support the government of Ghana to meet the call to meet the Millennium Development Goals on Education.
Green Shepherd Ghana, before the establishment of Ken Hammer Senior High Technical School had for a period of five consecutive years (2005- 2009), Organized free Remedial Classes for student who could not perform well in their Senior High School final examination .Again, apart from the core mandate of Green Shepherd Ghana operational areas of Provision of Health related issues, Community empowerment on the environment, Forestry & Ecotourism, Food Security, Income Generation Activities, women and youth empowerments, Female Genital Mutilation Campaigns, Sanitation and Hygiene Campaigns, Advocacy etc. Green Shepherd Ghana through the provision of Internet via satellite to communities and provided free computer and internet browsing to rural communities.
Ken Hammer Senior High Technical was named after a Canadian Professor, who teaches at Vancouver Island University College.Dr. Ken Hammer is a bosom friend and a consultant to Green Shepherd Ghana. Dr Ken Hammer is an international consultant and a member of Rotary club, British Columbia Chapter.
Ken Hammer special area of interest is leadership and management development, Business development, international work, scholarship of teaching and learning. He is the CEO of Ken & Associates.
